"I’ll navigate it myself. I don't need coaching"

Here's what this mindset cost me:

Feeling like an imposter throughout most of my career.
Knowing in my bones I'm not meeting my full potential.
Long nights of uncertainty about where I'm headed.
10 years of long wait for the VP role.

I was certain I could cut my own path.

(Just like some think they can give themselves a perfect haircut)

But it only led me to a cycle of striving without arriving.

→ Whenever the imposter syndrome or self-doubt hits,
I'd start working harder and harder
→ I'd get a win and feel validated doing something right
But now my personal life suffers
→ Then I'd have to choose between accomplishing more
Or making the most of my time with my family


And to add salt to my wounds...

My manager would throw clueless feedback like "You're almost there" (Gee, thanks!)

You see, coaching is like a lantern in the mist.

☀️ It doesn’t walk the path for you but lights up the steps you need to take

☀️ It's about discovering strengths you didn't know you had and addressing weaknesses that you've perhaps been wary to confront

☀️ It’s not all about giving you the answers, but about helping you ask the right questions


Most decisions you'll make as a leader will either move you years forward or backward.

So ask yourself:

Are your choices driving breakthroughs or keeping you stuck in the same place?

Seeking help doesn't mean you're weak.

It means you're a wise leader.
